Soooooooo, this is the updated midterm project proposal because I realized what I proposed previously (Recreating the 2048 game) was overachieving after some research… And I was also reminded that I need to add some personal touch, some creative element to my midterm project, therefore, here’s the new one!

The 2020 Presidential Election is at the corner, and after watching the first presidential debate on September 29th, I decided to recreate the Game of Pong, but with the presidential debate theme — Game of Pongsidential Debate.

The original game involves building the 2-player game of pong by providing two paddles and controls to move the paddles up and down vertically. A red ball bounces off the paddle and travels left and right. A spin can be imparted on the ball when the ball hits the edge of the paddle, causing the ball to bounce off at a 45-degree angle. The ball travels between an imaginary border that surrounds the court.

A player scores a point when their opponent misses the ball. The player with the most points wins. To complete the project, add a scoreboard to show each player’s score. Increment the score and refresh the page every time a point is scored.

The Original Game of Pong

With the new theme, I want to use the two presidential candidates’ cartoon figures as the paddles, and the topics that they debated as the ball that bounces between two paddles. I imagine it to be a short phrase wrapped in a circle and the words will change after each time the player hits the ball.
